ONE HOUR NANTAHALA
GORGE TRIP
The one hour trail
goes through the Nantahala National Forest in the Nantahala Gorge. It has
overlooks of Fontana Lake, the Appalachian Trail, and the Great Smoky Mountains
National Park.
TWO HOUR NANTAHALA
GORGE TRIP
The two hour trail
goes through the Nantahala National Forest in the Nantahala Gorge. It goes
along the EDGE of Fontana Lake. The trail also has ridge top overlooks of
Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a very
popular trip, as it offers a variety of terrain that includes both long range
views and close up lake views. This forested trail offers beautiful trees,
plants and flowers. A variety of wildlife may be seen, including deer, turkey,
squirrel, and an abundant variety of birds.
THREE HOUR
NANTAHALA GORGE TRIP
The three hour trail
goes through the Nantahala National Forest in the Nantahala Gorge. It has
Fontana Lake overlooks from the ridge tops, and long range views of the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. This forested trail offers abundant trees,
plants and flowers. A variety of wildlife may be seen including deer, turkey,
squirrel, and an abundant variety of birds.
FOUR HOUR (1/2
DAY) NANTAHALA GORGE TRIP
The four hour trip
goes over all 3 of the above trails, and includes all of the different trails
of the 1 hour, 2 hour, and three hour trip! This trip allows you to see all the
scenic vistas, plants and wildlife of the back country of the Nantahala
Gorge.
THE
TSALI HORSEBACK RIDING TRIP
EIGHT HOUR (FULL
DAY TRIP) TSALI AREA OF THE NANTAHALA NATIONAL FOREST
This full day trip
through the Nantahala National Forest is in the Tsali Recreation Area.
Participants enjoy scenic vistas offering long range mountain views of Fontana
Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including Clingman’s
Dome. This forested trail system offers beautiful trees, plants and flowers.
Sections of the trail have an abundance of the native mountain laurel as well
as other flora.
A variety of wildlife
may be seen, including deer, turkey, squirrel, bear, wild hog and an abundant
variety of birds.
A section of the
journey allows you to ride on the lake shore of Fontana. Swimming is OK if you
want. The journey takes you across several stream crossings.
Bring your own lunch
for the Tsali trip for a picnic around noon!
The Nantahala
Gorge Trips and the Tsali Trips are $22.50 per person per hour +
8-1/2%.
